‘Veni Vidi Verdi’ brings operatic grandeur to Mary Ellen Orr Auditorium on Saturday

Muddy River Opera

QUINCY — The Muddy River Opera Company recently announced “Veni Vidi Verdi,” a summer concert celebrating the genius of Giuseppe Verdi, one of opera’s most beloved composers, will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, June 28, in the Mary Ellen Orr Auditorium of John Wood Community College.

With featured soloists drawn from regional and national talent, “Veni Vidi Verdi” offers a journey through Verdi’s soundscapes. Audiences will enjoy selections from operatic masterpieces such as La Traviata, Rigoletto, Il Trovatore, Don Carlos and Macbeth, brought to life in an intimate setting that emphasizes the emotion and artistry of Verdi’s music.

“This isn’t a grand spectacle. It’s a chance to experience Verdi’s music up close and personal,” Alex Craig, president of the Muddy River Opera Company, said in a press release. “With nothing more than voice and piano, the focus is entirely on the power of the music and the expression of the performers.”

Tickets are free and available at https://muddyriveropera.org/current-season. All donors of $10 or more per person will be invited to the encore party after the performance, a post-show celebration with the cast featuring hors d’oeuvres, drinks, and live entertainment.

The Muddy River Opera Company is a nonprofit performing arts organization based in Quincy dedicated to making world-class opera accessible by offering high-quality performances, educational programming and community engagement opportunities.
