HANNIBAL, Mo. — When interior designer Margo Myers with Missouri Furniture was asked to stage a house for the Magnolia Network’s program “In With the Old,” she envisioned original artwork throughout.

She knew where to find work that would maintain the rural midwest aesthetic of the northern Missouri farmhouse … her mother.

Debra Scoggin-Myers is an award-winning artist who portrays the bucolic aspects of country life. Her paintings of cows, landscapes and rural structures expertly capture and communicate the beauty, the pace and the intimate connections with nature that grace her own life on the farm in Ewing.

“Original artwork that is created by local artists is a wonderful opportunity to express the sense and sensibility of the region,” Ann Miller Titus, general manager of the Alliance Art Gallery, explained in a press release. “Debra’s work is admired and sought after precisely because of the stories they tell and the memories they revive for those of us who love this part of the country.”

Scoggin-Myers is a member/owner of the Alliance Art Gallery. Her work can be enjoyed at the gallery throughout the year. The Magnolia Network Season 7 Episode 1 titled “Missouri Homestead” is being streamed on HBO Max.
