QUINCY — Adams County CEO seeks an innovative facilitator to help prepare the next generation of strong, effective leaders in our community. Roger Leenerts recently announced his retirement from the program at the end of this school year after four years of serving as the facilitator.

The new Adams County CEO facilitator will guide the upcoming 2024-25 class, the fifth group of students in the high school entrepreneurship program.

“On behalf of the CEO board, we thank Roger for his leadership and many contributions in establishing the CEO program,” Trenton Murfin, CEO board chair, said in a press release. “We look forward to continuing to grow the program and encourage individuals interested in making a difference in the lives of our students to apply.”

Adams County CEO (Creating Entrepreneurial Opportunities) is a year-long program developed by the Midland Institute for high school seniors and is designed to utilize partnerships that provide an overview of business development and processes. The local business community partners with Adams County High Schools to create project-based experiences for students by providing funding, expertise, meeting space, business tours and one-on-one mentoring.

CEO offers real-life experiences through regular contact with local entrepreneurs and business people. Students in the program come from Adams County high schools and meet from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Monday – Friday during the school year. This is a part-time position that requires a teacher certificate or the ability to obtain CTE licensure to apply. A master’s degree is preferred but not required.

The CEO facilitator will create a learning environment where students are encouraged to explore, discover and experience learning through real-life activities. The facilitator’s role is to model a passion for learning, connect with the students and community, collaborate with the CEO Board and guide the students on their personal CEO journey.

People should send a resume and three references to facilitator@adamscountyceo.com. The deadline to apply is Wednesday, May 8.

Adams County CEO began as a result of the Quincy Next Strategic Plan and its initiative to expand entrepreneurship and new economy skills training. An overarching goal of the Strategic Plan is to retain and attract residents to the Quincy region.
