Aldermen approve further airport upgrades
QUINCY — Improvements continue at Quincy Regional Airport as the City Council approve more than $400,000 in engineering contracts on Tuesday.
Crawford, Murphy and Tilly (CMT) will oversee the engineering and planning to build a general aviation apron and roadway for a new corporate hangar that will have a total cost up to $310,600. The project is 90 percent funded by the State of Illinois, and 10 percent by the City.
CMT will also supervise phase two of the reconstruction of runway 4/22 and removal of runway 18/36 project, with a total contract cost not to exceed $118,600. In accordance with the FAA’s Airport Improvement Program, this part will be 90 percent funded by the United States Department of Transportation, 5 percent funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation, and 5 percent funded by the City.
These projects are all included in an overall $30 million upgrade to the airport’s facilities.
In other action, Aldermen:
- Heard from Director of Administrative Services Jeff Mays and Comptroller Sheri Ray that budget ordinance amendments would be presented next week.
- Approved the restructuring of the QMG Employee Clinic to be included under the reinsured HRA plan, the transfer from Blue Cross Blue Shield dental to MetLife dental and transfer from the single Blue Cross Blue Shield plan to the primary and secondary HRA benefits plan. The administration said the move will eliminate redundant expenses and offer the same benefits, coverage, and cost to City employees.
- Hired Lauterbach & Amen of Naperville to provide the actuarial valuations for both the fire and police pension fund for a total three-year cost of $34,080.
- Approved a lease with Moss Family Farms Inc. for the farming of the tillable acreage of the Quincy
Regional Airport property.
