Before meeting with door-to-door solicitors, make sure to know city’s regulations

QUINCY — The Quincy Police Department wants to advise people about regulations regarding door-to-door solicitation in the city.
QPD officials said in a press release they routinely receive calls and complaints as the weather warms and door-to-door solicitation becomes more prevalent. Chapter 120 of the city ordinances dictates the following regulations for peddlers:
- Peddlers or solicitors must have a peddlers/solicitors license issued by the city and present it upon request.
- Peddlers or solicitors may only go door-to-door from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
- They may not solicit a residence with a “No Solicitors” sign posted at the door.
- They may only solicit or sell the item that is on their permit.
- They must leave when asked.
People violating these may be cited. If you have any questions, call the Quincy Police Department at 217-228-4470.
