Before meeting with door-to-door solicitors, make sure to know city’s regulations

Quincy Police Department

QUINCY — The Quincy Police Department wants to advise people about regulations regarding door-to-door solicitation in the city.

QPD officials said in a press release they routinely receive calls and complaints as the weather warms and door-to-door solicitation becomes more prevalent. Chapter 120 of the city ordinances dictates the following regulations for peddlers:

  1. Peddlers or solicitors must have a peddlers/solicitors license issued by the city and present it upon request.
  2. Peddlers or solicitors may only go door-to-door from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
  3. They may not solicit a residence with a “No Solicitors” sign posted at the door.
  4. They may only solicit or sell the item that is on their permit.
  5. They must leave when asked.

People violating these may be cited. If you have any questions, call the Quincy Police Department at 217-228-4470.
