Calftowns and beehives kicking off this weekend
QUINCY – Calftown Corners has added two more businesses to the Calftown Square on the northwest corner of Eighth and State.
The Engraved Hive is a collection of local vendors who have come together in one bright, beautiful storefront located at 735 State to sell their handmade products. They are set for a grand opening this Saturday, Oct. 28.
The creators of The Engraved Hive are Kelly Carlstrom and Rachel Lee. Carlstrom owns Superior Wreaths and Engraving, which started three years ago in December 2020. She has an industrial engraving machine that personalizes and customizes pretty much whatever you can think of. Carlstrom also will feature a “build a hat bar” where the customer can decorate knitted hats with an array of patches, and the Hive can press them right there in the store.
Lee also owns MAE’s Bees, which she started this past June. She makes beeswax, soy and coconut candles, and wax melts, along with lip balms and room sprays. Lee plans on releasing a new special secrete product on opening day. Both were vendors in a similar storefront in Camp Point and decided to bring their handmade products closer to home, as they both live in Quincy. They connected with a love for local and home goods.
The hive is busy, and it’s not just these two queen bees at work. The ladies have secured a vendor lineup that will make Christmas shopping in this cozy little storefront a lot more fun than scrolling the Amazon sales. Some of these vendors were only available at pop-up markets. Now they have a storefront home.
Welcome to Calftown.
