Canton woman in Lewis County Jail faces possession of methamphetamine charge
CANTON, Mo. — A Canton woman with previous drug convictions in Adams and Hancock counties in Illinois faces more drug charges in Lewis County.
A Lewis County Sheriff’s Office deputy conducted a traffic stop for speed in rural Lewis County on May 3. The driver was identified as Leslie A. Kirby, 41. After further investigation, it was determined Miss Kirby’s Illinois driver’s license had been revoked. She was arrested and transported to the Lewis County Jail to be placed on a 24-hour hold pending charges.
Upon arrival at the jail, Kirby was found to be in possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia.
An arrest warrant was sought through Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney Chelsea Fellinger. Judge Corey Moon issued a warrant alleging one count of possession of a controlled substance, a class D felony.
Kirby has previous convictions in Adams County, Illinois, for manufacturing and/or delivering a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, heroin. She has a prior conviction in Hancock County, Illinois for manufacturing/delivering a controlled substance.
Kirby is lodged in the Lewis County Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bond.
