QUINCY — The Quincy Public Schools Foundation and Quincy High School Leadership Class have partnered to hold the ninth annual Dream Big in Color 5K Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m. Saturday, starting at Quincy High School.

This year’s run will begin in the parking lot at QHS, 3322 Maine, and will continue down Maine Street to South 16th. Participants will circle back using Jersey Street, East Ave. and York Street, returning to Maine Street via South 23rd.

By partnering with the QPS Foundation, QHS Leadership students have the opportunity for real-world learning experiences. In a press release, QHS Leadership student Evelyn MacDonough said, “We were given a list of businesses to go and ask for sponsorships.” Lucas Dotson, another QHS Leadership student, said, “There were different criteria of how we were to go about getting donations for the event and were given partners, which made the process less intimidating.”

In addition to sponsorships, QHS Leadership students also help set up and volunteer during the event.

“We are looking forward to seeing our QPS families and supporters back in-person this year,” QPS Foundation interim executive director Lindsay Knudson said. “We’re hoping even those who don’t participate in the run will still stop by QHS to enjoy live music entertainment from Pepper Spray, sidewalk chalk/paint from the Quincy Art Center and grab some delicious food from All-Star Concessions.”

Registration for the run is available online-only through the QPS Foundation’s website, qpsfoundation.org. Early-bird registration has ended, and T-shirts are not guaranteed. Participants are encouraged to sign up as soon as possible to secure a shirt.

Registration and race packets will be available for pickup in the QHS Gymnasium from 3-6 p.m. Friday and at 8 a.m. Saturday.
