Driver of stolen vehicle believed to be involved in Monday crash arrested after trying to flee Hannibal police
HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Marthasville, Mo., man was arrested Monday after he allegedly was involved in a traffic crash with a stolen vehicle.
The 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County issued a warrant on Tuesday, Sept. 10, for Jonathan R. Jordan, 37, who was charged with tampering with a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.
The charges stem from an incident that began on Monday, Sept. 9. At approximately 11:16 a.m., the Northeast Emergency Communication Center received a 911 call from a person reporting their vehicle had been stolen from the 400 block of N. Third.
Another 911 call was received about a minute later about a single-vehicle crash involving a vehicle and a utility pole in the 700 block of Warren Barrett Drive. The vehicle that had been reported stolen was the same vehicle involved in the traffic crash.
Officers obtained a description of the driver, Jordan, who had left the area. A Hannibal Police Department officer spotted Jordan near S. Ninth and Lyon. When the officer confronted Jordan, he fled on foot. He then attempted to get into the passenger side of a vehicle that was not involved. Officers took Jordan into custody without further incident.
Jordan was taken to the Marion County Jail, where he remains. His bond was set at $25,000.
