Hamilton man arrested on methamphetamine charges after traffic stop on Hamilton/Keokuk bridge

HAMILTON, Ill. — A Hamilton man is in the Hancock County Jail after he was arrested on methamphetamine charges.

A deputy with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on a 2004 silver Ford Focus for a traffic violation at 11 p.m. Thursday, May 11 on the Hamilton/Keokuk bridge. The driver was identified as Troy F. Markham, 56.

A canine with the sheriff’s department conducted a free air sniff of the vehicle and positively alerted on the vehicle. During a search, the deputies found 6.3 grams of a crystal substance which field-tested positive for methamphetamine.

Markham was placed under arrest and transported to the Hancock County Jail.
