Hancock County Sheriff’s Department makes four drug-related arrests
CARTHAGE, Ill. — Four drug-related arrests recently were made by deputies with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department.
A deputy conducted a traffic stop at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 28 on a silver 2001 Chevrolet coupe on the New Warsaw Road at Windy Hills Road. A passenger, Taylor D. Harrison, 20, of Carthage was found to have a small amount of methamphetamine and a used glass smoking pipe. Harrison was arrested and charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony.
Harrison had a preliminary hearing on April 4 before Judge Rodney Clark. Her next appearance in court is a pretrial hearing on June 3.
A deputy conducted a traffic stop at approximately 8 p.m. on March 1 on a 1997 tan Mitsubishi SUV on U.S. 136 near County Road 1450E. The traffic stop led to a driving while under the influence investigation. The driver, Marcus D. Gilpin, 40, of Hamilton was subsequently arrested and charged with driving under the influence of drugs, a Class A misdemeanor.
Gilpin’s next appearance in court is a pretrial hearing on June 3.
A deputy made an arrest at approximately 5 p.m. March 17 on a Hancock County warrant for Brent W. Tripp, 38 of Warsaw for failing to appear in court. A search of Tripp’s person and personal effects on his person revealed a small amount of methamphetamine and a used glass smoking pipe. Tripp was subsequently charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony.
Tripp appeared at a preliminary hearing before Clark on April 4. His next appearance in court is a pretrial hearing on June 3.
A deputy conducted a traffic stop at approximately 11:45 p.m. on March 17 on a blue 2002 Buick Le Sabre on U.S. 136 near County Road 1100E. A canine from the sheriff’s department was called to the scene. The canine alerted on the vehicle. During a search, deputies discovered a small amount of methamphetamine in the vehicle. The driver, Sheri L. Taylor, 58, of Keokuk, Iowa, was placed under arrest and charged with possession of methamphetamine, a Class 3 felony.
Taylor made her first appearance in court on April 4, and her next appearance is a preliminary hearing on April 25.
