Hannibal Fire Department

HANNIBAL, Mo. — No one was injured Tuesday night in a structure fire in Hannibal, and the incident is under investigation by the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office.

The Hannibal Fire Department was dispatched to 415 Jefferson at approximately 10:06 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18, for a report of a structure fire. All stations responded with nine on-duty crew members. An additional five off-duty firefighters responded to the scene.

Upon arrival, crews observed smoke coming from the second-floor windows of a vacant two-story brick home. Firefighters quickly located the fire near the rear of the structure in what appeared to be the kitchen area. The blaze had already burned through the floor, extending to the second story.

Crews dealt with single-digit temperatures as they knocked down the fire within five to 10 minutes. They remained on the scene until 2:43 a.m.

The Hannibal Police Department and Marion County Ambulance District assisted.
