BARRY, Ill — Hannibal Police and the Pike County, Ill. Sheriff’s Department worked together to arrest a Hannibal man for stealing two vehicles over the last two days.

On Sunday at about 5:30 p.m., the Pike County Sheriff’s Department received a report of a stolen vehicle from the 600 block of Rogers Street in Barry. Then, on Monday at about 4:15 p.m., they received another report about another vehicle stolen from the 1200 block of Pratt St in Barry.

Both vehicles were recovered later Monday night.

Following an investigation, Joshua M. Perkins, 36, from Hannibal, was arrested by the Hannibal Police Department for Possession of a Stolen Vehicle. He is being held in the Marion County Jail in Missouri awaiting extradition to Illinois.

Pike County Sheriff David Greenwood said a warrant will be issued for Perkins later this morning from Pike County.

Greenwood commended Pike County officers Deputy Skyler Lambeth and Sergeant Matt Frazier for their investigation into the thefts, which led to the quick apprehension of Perkins and the recovery of the stolen vehicles.  He also thanked the Hannibal Police Department for its assistance in the investigation, saying the department played an integral role in the vehicle recovery and suspect apprehension.

The investigation is still ongoing into these incidents and others that may lead to more arrests. If you happen to have a Ring doorbell type camera or a surveillance system that may have recorded anything that may seem suspicious and can assist in these investigations, please contact the Pike County Sheriff’s Department.
