HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Hannibal man is in the Marion County Jail after an alleged burglary attempt.

The 10th Judicial District Court of Marion County issued a warrant on Monday, Sept. 9 for Brendon W. Lake, 29, charging him with burglary, stealing, possession of a controlled substance, and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia.

The charges stem from an incident that began at 7:59 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8 in the 3600 block of Stardust. The Northeast Emergency Communication Center received a 911 call stating a male, later identified as Lake, threw a rock through the front door of a business that was closed. He then entered the business and removed items while inside. Lake had left the scene before officers with the Hannibal Police Department arrived.

Officers saw Lake walking in the 1200 block of Broadway at approximately 12:40 p.m. Sunday. He was taken into custody without incident. Lake was searched, and officers recovered items that had been stolen from the burglary.

Lake’s bond was set at $25,000.
