Hannibal man facing weapon charge after shots were fired in Shawnee Trail area

HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Hannibal man is in the Marion County Jail and is facing a weapon charge.

Officers with the Hannibal Police Department responded at 11:57 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18 to the area of Shawnee Trail for a report of gun shots. Witnesses indicated Jydon R. Harnett, 24 of Hannibal, had fired a gun at a car that was in the street. The vehicle had fled the scene prior to officer’s arrival. 

Harnett had fled into an apartment but exited upon officers’ commands. A bolt action rifle was recovered from the scene, and Harnett was transported to the Marion County Jail. He was charged with unlawful use of a weapon. 

Harnett’s bond is set at $50,000. No injuries were reported as a result of this incident.
