Hannibal man in Marion County Jail after investigation discovers several explosive devices at Hannibal residence
HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Hannibal man is in the Marion County Jail after a Hannibal Police investigation into the manufacture and possession of explosive devices at a local residence.
A warrant was issued in the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County on Sunday, Aug. 14, charging Joshua E. Rickey, 33, with three counts of unlawful possession of a weapon.
Hannibal Police officers and the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms went to a residence in the 800 block of Hayward Street on Saturday to serve a search warrant. When officers arrived at the residence, no one answered the door, but officers could see a subject inside.
The house was surrounded, and a negotiator eventually contacted Rickey by phone. Approximately an hour later, Rickey surrendered to law enforcement without incident. A search of the residence yielded several explosive devices, which were removed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol Bomb Squad. The residence also was checked by an ATF certified bomb dog along with detectives and bomb squad members. An additional device was found during a search at another location on Orchard Avenue. It also was secured by the bomb squad.
Rickey’s bond was set at $50,000. The Hannibal Police Department was assisted by the Hannibal Fire Department, Marion County Ambulance and NECOMM.
