Hannibal man injured in Sunday morning crash on U.S. 24 east of Coatsburg

COATSBURG, Ill. — A Hannibal man suffered moderate injuries in a Sunday morning crash near the intersection of U.S. 24 and E. 2000th Street east of Coatsburg.

The Adams County Sheriff’s Department reported Chase Folweiler, 27, of Hannibal, Mo., was traveling eastbound in a 2004 Mercury Sedan on U.S. 24 at 8:39 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, when his vehicle crossed the center line and struck head-on  2009 Toyota Sedan driven by Wyatt Schemerhorn, 19, of Palmyra, Mo. 

Folweiler was transported to Blessing Hospital with moderate injuries by Adams County Ambulance. Schemerhorn was not injured. 

Folweiler was arrested and charged with improper lane usage, failure to wear a seat belt and operating an uninsured vehicle.

The Central Adams Fire Department, Camp Point Fire Department and Clayton Fire Department provided assistance.

The crash remains under investigation.
