Herald-Whig announces decision to further reduce days of print product
QUINCY — The Herald-Whig, the local newspaper based out of Quincy, announced Thursday it would only produce printed editions on Wednesdays and Saturdays, beginning Jan. 6.
This move comes after the Phillips Media Group-owned publication announced in October a plan to continue to provide some subscribers a print product five days a week and some readers a print product two days a week, depending on their ZIP code. That plan lasted approximately two months.
Phillips Media, based out of Arkansas, also owns the Hannibal Courier-Post, which has already reduced its days of print.
A statement by the paper’s publisher said they would continue to offer their “e-edition” five days a week.
The Herald-Whig is also a subscription-based Website, meaning its content is behind a paywall after a few free clicks.
