QUINCY – The United Way of Adams County celebrated 87 years of serving the Adams County community and the completion of the 2024 annual campaign at its annual meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 26 at Town & Country Inn and Suites.

The Live United Award was presented to Joanne Hibbeler, who serves as the Good News of Christmas coordinator. Her dedication to the Good News of Christmas began more than 13 years ago when it was a Quincy Herald-Whig and United Way of Adams County program.

Supported by her husband, Pat, Hibbeler tirelessly organizes volunteers for shopping, wrapping and coordinating gifts for families in need every December. When asked why she takes on this monumental task, she simply said, “It fills my heart.”

The Newly United Award was presented to Hula Bowls. This award recognizes businesses that are new to Quincy and immediately embrace the spirit of giving. Hula Bowls is recognized for its enthusiastic participation in United Way Wednesdays, crafting limited-time menu items to directly support the United Way, during its first year in Quincy. From

the start, they jumped in with creativity and generosity.

The Business Hero Award was presented to Dot Foods for its commitment to philanthropy and community support. Through its annual Giving Festival, Dot awards grants to local nonprofits and provide a platform to highlight the work these organizations do.

2024 campaign chairs Brooke and Patrick Cook, hosts of the “Uncorked Generosity” fundraiser, also were honored. Hansen-Spear Funeral Home, the 2025 campaign chairs, also were welcomed.
