Hoops Midwest coming to Quincy
QUINCY – Hoops Midwest, a longtime youth basketball tournament provider in Missouri, will be bringing their brand to Illinois.
An agreement has been reached with Quincy University for Hoops Midwest to host multiple events at the university’s facilities, beginning February 5, 2022. The inaugural event will be open to all teams, grades 3rd-8th for both boys and girls.
Hoops Midwest, LLC is owned and operated by Steve Reith and Mike Edwards, who bring a wealth of experience to Quincy.
“We’ve developed a great team and a way of doing business without the issues that many providers deal with,” said Edwards. “We expect our teams and spectators to behave and remember why they are there, for the kids!”
Reith takes care of getting quality officials. “Honestly because of how we require our people to behave we have officials that want to work for us,” he said. “It’s a huge part of why teams return and play with us.”
Hoops Midwest plans to add additional events in Quincy, including some 2-day events later in 2022. The goal is to bring visitors to Quincy, generating overnight expenditures and growing the local economy.
“Holly Cain with the CVB has been fantastic to help us get this rolling, said Edwards. “Our plan is to make this a great new home.”
Forty teams will top out the February 5th tournament, and eleven teams have already registered. All registration for Hoops Midwest events is available online at hoopsmidwest.com.
