Illinois Stories program on WQEC to feature Quincy’s 1839 vintage fire truck

QUINCY — The Illinois Stories program will feature a piece on the 1839 vintage fire truck, Quincy First, at 8 p.m. Thursday, June 16 on WQEC, Quincy’s PBS station (Cable channel 8) and again at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 19.

This was the first fire engine used in Quincy and also the first used in Illinois. Members of the Quincy Fire Department and the Historical Society will be featured in the segment, which was filmed at the Gov. John Wood campus in Quincy in May. The video also will be available on YouTube and on the HSQAC website at hsqac.org at a later date.

The pumper is housed in The Livery located on the Gov. John Wood Mansion campus
at 425 S. 12th and is included on tours of the historic home.
