Investigators suspect arson in Thursday night fire on Third Street in Hannibal

HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Thursday night fire on Third Street in Hannibal has been listed as incendiary.

The Hannibal Fire Department was dispatched by 911 at approximately 8:44 p.m. Thursday, June 21, for a report of a structure fire at 201 S. Third. Upon arrival, HFD crews made an offensive attack and had the fire under control in about 15 minutes. Crews were on-scene for approximately two hours conducting overhaul and ejecting smoke from the building. No injuries were reported. 

Investigators from the Hannibal Fire Department, Hannibal Police Department and the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s office were called in. HFD was assisted on the scene by the Hannibal Police Department, Marion County Ambulance District and the Missouri State Fire Marshal’s Office. 

People with information concerning an incident of suspected arson can call the Missouri Arson Hotline at 1-800-392-7766. There is a $5,000 reward fund associated with the hotline for information leading to the arrest of suspects in arson cases. Nominations for rewards from the fund can be submitted by any fire service or law enforcement agencies.
