Jackson-Lincoln Pool opens June 14 for 28th season, but desperately needs community support

QUINCY — The Jackson-Lincoln Swimming Complex is back for its 28th, opening at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 14.

“There’s nothing like Jackson-Lincoln,” Executive Director Marissa Radcliffe said in a press release. “It’s more than a pool. It’s where generations of families have learned to swim, earned their first summer job and built community. This summer, we’re inviting everyone back to celebrate and make new memories.”

But, due to unforeseen challenges and critical financial shortfalls, the Jackson-Lincoln Swimming Complex may not be able to remain open for the full 2025 season and beyond. That would mean hundreds of children without access to swimming activities, dozens of teens without summer employment, and a community left without a vital resource.

To meet this urgent need, JLSC has launched an all-hands-on-deck campaign to Keep the Pool Open, with a goal of raising $230,000 by July 15. These funds will enable the organization to hire staff, certify lifeguards, purchase supplies, cover insurance and utilities, and continue offering another unforgettable summer.

“There’s been amazing community support so far,” JLSC Board President Michael Dade said. “But we’re not there yet. To keep the pool open this season — and protect its future — we need everyone who believes in this space to step up and be part of this moment.”

JLSC is halfway to its goal. A generous anonymous donor has issued a $50,000 challenge grant. Every donation from a new donor — or from anyone who hasn’t given since 2022 — will be matched dollar for dollar through July 15.

Donations will go toward:

• Lifeguard wages and training for local youth
• Pool maintenance and insurance to keep families safe
• Community programs like Family Swim Nights and water safety education
• Access for children who otherwise couldn’t afford to swim.
