MT. STERLING, Ill. — John Wood Community College’s Board of Trustees heard a report on new curriculum offerings for the Fall 2023 semester during its regular meeting on Wednesday at the JWCC Mt. Sterling Education Center.

A new certificate in the Computer Science program that will help students advance their careers and succeed in today’s competitive job market was introduced. Innovative programs are designed in collaboration with local businesses and industry partners, providing students with practical knowledge and hands-on experience.

“Students who finish the Technical Help Desk Certificate and the Fundamentals of Cybersecurity course will acquire computer support skills to provide technical assistance,” said JWCC Vice President of Instructional Services Laurel Klinkenberg. “This will serve as an important step in preparing for an entry-level IT position or for advancing their education towards an associate degree.”

“John Wood ensures that its curriculum stays relevant and up-to-date by collaborating with local industry leaders,” said JWCC President Bryan Renfro. This approach reflects the latest industry trends and practices, which means that our students will be well-prepared to meet the demands of today’s job market.”
