HANNIBAL, Mo. — A LaBelle man wanted on a domestic assault in the first degree charge was arrested Monday in Hannibal.

Members of the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department were contacted on Dec. 29, 2024, by the Missouri Children’s Division regarding a domestic assault that occurred on Dec. 27, 2024, in La Belle. An adult female victim was at a local hospital and reported she had been assaulted by her paramour, Keyana Strickland, 28, of La Belle. She reported being choked and struck repeatedly in the face, sustaining major injuries to her face and head.

The sheriff’s department began the investigation and learned Strickland had fled the area. The department received a tip on March 3 that Strickland was at a residence in Hannibal. The Hannibal Police Department also received the same information and immediately found Strickland and took him into custody.

Lewis County Prosecutor Chelsea Fellinger filed a felony complaint on Dec. 30, alleging Strickland had committed the Class A felony of domestic assault in the first degree and the Class D felony of tampering with a victim. Lewis County Associate Judge Corey Moon issued an arrest warrant for Strickland the same day.

Strickland remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail on no bond.
