LaBelle residents warned about armed suspect as Lewis County Sheriff’s Department handles incident

LaBELLE, Mo. — The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office is handling an incident in La Belle involving an armed suspect in a residence, according to a post on the department’s Facebook page.

“This is an active situation, and we ask residents to stay clear of the area near 213 N. Third Street,” the post read. “If you reside near this residence, we are asking you to stay in your residence.”

Several law enforcement agencies are in the area as the sheriff’s department works to resolve the situation, which started after receiving information mid-afternoon on Friday from the Quincy Police Department.
