Adams-County-Sheriffs-Department

COATSBURG, Ill. — A Loraine woman faces multiple charges after her abandoned car was found in northeast Adams County.

Deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Department were notified Friday of a vehicle in the ditch on E. 1850th Street, one-tenth of a mile south of N. 2300th Place, approximately four miles north of Coatsburg. They found a 2023 Nissan Altima, which was heavily damaged and unoccupied during the overnight hours. The Nissan had been southbound on the blacktop before the driver failed to negotiate the curve, forcing the vehicle to leave the road and overturn.

The driver, Jill Schaffer, 45, of Loraine was located at her residence at 7:23 a.m. Friday and issued citations for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, failure to report a crash to police, failure to wear a seat belt, unlawful transportation of alcohol and unlawful transportation of cannabis.
