Los Charros in Rushville welcoming crew from America’s Best Restaurants on Sept. 24

RUSHVILLE, Ill. — Los Charros, 3 Charles Street in Rushville, will be receiving a visit from America’s Best Restaurants in late September.

America’s Best Restaurants, a national media and marketing company focusing on bringing attention to local, independently-owned restaurants, will bring its ABR Roadshow to the restaurant on Sept. 24.  Popular dishes will be highlighted, along with an extensive on-camera interview with owner Roberto Leon about the restaurant’s special place in the community.

The episode will be aired extensively on social media channels at a later date.

Charros means “Mexican cowboy,” and the decor reflects this Western lifestyle with its stone dividing wall with inlaid wagon wheels, studded trim on the booths and an image of a man on horseback on the menu cover.

The restaurant was nominated to be on the Roadshow by customer Ashley Skinner, who noted they serve “the best Mexican food around.”

Leon was born in Jalisco, Mexico, and moved to the United States as a child. He has several years of experience in the restaurant industry and prides himself on his restaurant’s freshly made food.

The menu includes an extensive selection of Mexican favorites with many types of burritos, enchiladas, tacos and Especialidades de Charros. A popular menu item that may be featured on the episode is the Flaming Fajitas – beef, chicken, shrimp and bacon with vegetables and topped with cheese dip.

Leon owns two other locations of Los Charros, one in Havana and one in Quincy.

America’s Best Restaurants will be filming on location from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24. The restaurant’s finished episode premiere date will be announced on Facebook and featured on America’s Best Restaurants’ website at https://americasbestrestaurants.com/rests/illinois/los-charros.
