Macomb man arrested on drug, firearm charges after law enforcement responds to domestic complaint
MACOMB, Ill. — A Macomb man was arrested on drug and firearm charges after officers with the Macomb Police Department and deputies with the McDonough County Sherriff’s Department responded Tuesday to a report of a possible domestic complaint.
During the investigation of the domestic complaint, officers learned that the male suspect, later identified as Chanon H. Davis Jr., had presented a firearm and threatened to shoot the victim. During the altercation, Davis grabbed the victim’s shirt and twisted the collar area tight enough to restrict the victim’s breathing.
Officers located a firearm in Davis’ waistband. He does not have a valid firearm owner identification card. Davis eventually was secured in handcuffs and taken to the McDonough County Jail.
A search warrant was obtained and executed on the residence for other weapons and contraband. Additional ammo and a 25-round extended magazine were found, along with several bags of cannabis, MDMA (ecstasy) and a white powdery substance.
Davis was charged with aggravated domestic battery, unlawful use of a weapon by a felon, armed violence, manufacturing/delivery of cannabis more than 500 grams, manufacturing/delivery of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance.
