Monroe City man killed when ATV crashes into tree

MONROE CITY, Mo. — A Monroe City man was killed in an ATV crash on Wednesday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports that a 1999 Honda ATV driven by William C. Sweet, 48, of Monroe City was northbound when it was driven off the left side of Cincinnati Road, a half-mile south of Ariel Lane in Ralls County, nine miles southeast of Monroe City, at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday, July 3. 

The ATV struck a tree. Sweet was pronounced dead at the scene by Monroe City EMS at 8:02 p.m.
