Monroe City man wanted on charges in two counties arrested during traffic stop in Vandalia

VANDALIA, Mo. — A Monroe City man wanted on several warrants was apprehended and charged with driving while intoxicated and narcotics-related chargers after a traffic stop in Vandalia.

A deputy with the Audrain County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop at 9:09 a.m. on Wednesday, May 14, with a passenger vehicle for an observed registration violation.

Upon stopping the vehicle, contact was made with the driver, Jimmie Trower of Monroe City. The deputy observed signs of impairment and initiated a driving while intoxicated investigation. It also was learned that Trower had multiple warrants for his arrest in: 

  • Marion County for a failure to appear warrant for possession of a controlled substance except 35 grams or less of marijauna
  • Marion County for a failure to appear warrant for receiving stolen property.
  • Monroe County for unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. 

The total bond on all three warrants was $51,000. 

Trower is in the Audrain County Jail pending formal charges by the Audrain County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. Trower is awaiting extradition for his outstanding arrest warrants. 

Mexico Public Safety Maj. Jay Thompson, a drug recognition expert, assisted with the investigation.
