Motorcyclist killed in collision with deer south of Pearl

PEARL, Ill. — The Pike County Sheriff’s Department responded to a single unit motorcycle crash on State Highway 100, approximately 2 miles south of Pearl, at 3:59 p.m. on Sunday, July 9.
The motorcycle was traveling northbound and struck a deer that ran into its path. The operator of the motorcycle was pronounced dead at the scene. The name of the decedent is not being released pending notification of family.
Assisting at the scene was the Spring Creek Fire Department and Pike County EMS.
