MRN WEATHER: Saturday night update

Play Video

New models are coming in.  Comparing them to current radar trends, I’m inclined to stay with the 8-12” forecast trend that is focused over the I-72/US 36 corridor.

Two changes I see is if drier air in the mid-levels could potentially decrease snowfall amounts.  The second is if the storm intensifies, the winds could be stronger.  Discussion with National Weather Service offices are mentioning this, but are not yet declaring Blizzard-like conditions at this time.

Still expect snow to begin between 3 and 6 a.m.  The heaviest should be after noon, but the morning activity may make roadways slippery, so take caution if you are driving to your Sunday morning activities.  It is the recommendation of public safety and emergency management that drivers stay off the roads after noon until Monday morning as conditions will deteriorate rapidly and road crews may not be able to keep up with the snowfall and drifting.

More info tomorrow morning.  Have a good night.
