Lack of development on Quincy riverfront leads Native Grill and Wings to move to Hannibal
HANNIBAL, Mo. — To take advantage of more foot traffic, the corporation that owns the Native Grill and Wings brand has decided to vacate the Quincy riverfront for a spot in Hannibal’s Historic District.
The bar and grill at 138 N. Front was closed Friday and will reopen in Hannibal this fall.
FAT Brands of Beverly Hills, Calif., owns the Native brand among other popular national chains such as Johnny Rockets, Fatburger, Ponderosa, Bonanza and Fazoli’s.
Erin Mandzik, senior director of corporate communications for FAT Brands, said the lack of development on Quincy’s Riverfront led to the decision to look for another location.
“When we selected Quincy five years ago, we were told there would be riverfront development, and that hasn’t panned out,” she said. “We want a location with more foot traffic, and we are looking to open in the heart of the tourist district.”
Mandzik said FAT Brands would announce the location of the new Native later this summer.
Mandzik said Duane Venvertloh would continue to be the local franchisee in Hannibal. Venvertloh still owns the Front Street property.
