New Salem man jailed on drug charges and for failing to register as sex offender

PITTSFIELD, Ill. — The Pittsfield Police Department recently requested the assistance of the Pike County Sheriff’s Department regarding an ongoing criminal investigation. 

At 11:47 a.m. on Wednesday, June 14, Chief Deputy Zack Orr and Pittsfield Assistant Chief of Police Jennifer Thompson conducted a traffic stop on Bennett Street in New Salem on a multi-colored 2004 Chevrolet SUV. 

After an investigation, the driver, Dakota L. Henry, 23, of New Salem was arrested on the following charges:

  • Unlawful possession of methamphetamine, 
  • DUI-any amount of drug,
  • Failure to register as a sex offender, 
  • Endangering the life or health of a child (2 counts).

Henry was arrested without incident and lodged in the Pike County Jail.
