QUINCY — Following in the footsteps of its sister store in Mattoon, the former County Market at 24th street in Quincy has been renamed Niemanns.

Gerry Kettler, Director of Consumer Affairs with Niemann’s, said over the past year or so, customers have spoken informally to County Market associates about where they would like to see improvements.

“We listened to the customer,” Kettler said. “Niemann’s has recommitted to the customer experience. We are broadening our focus with additional organic and natural offerings. We will increase the number of preprepared offerings.”

Prepared offerings will include a large selection of made from scratch ‘meals-to-go’ featuring full meal packaging. The store will also feature a re-imagined meat counter with fresh beef from Niemann’s Beef Ranch in Missouri.

Neighbors in the 24th and Spring area will notice the aroma of barbecue as the store introduces a large selection of daily smoked meats prepared on-site. Management looks to expand the catering operation as well.

The store’s longtime favorite items will remain including fried chicken, Texas sheet cake and popcorn.

The grand opening will be held Wednesday, July 12.

This change comes on the heels of a prior announcement of the temporary closing of the 48th street County Market. Niemann Foods Incorporated announced construction will soon begin on what the company is calling “a completely unique customer experience unlike anything in the area.”
