Outdoor event, auction on Sept. 11 to benefit Adams County Suicide Prevention Coalition

Adams County Suicide Prevention Coalition

QUINCY — “Behind the Mask: An English Garden Party” is a fundraising event at 4 p.m. Sept. 11 that will benefit the Adams County Suicide Prevention Coalition, a coalition of agencies and interested people whose mission is to prevent suicide.

Funds raised will support the coalition’s mission and provide funds for suicide prevention efforts in the area — creating and airing public service announcements, social media outreach, training for area gatekeepers, providing a support group and resources to those who have lost a loved one to suicide, and other prevention initiatives.

The Gas Lamp Inn & Eatery, 1477 Maine, is the site of the event that will take place on the lawn with ample space for social distancing.

Barbara Baker Chapin, chair of the Coalition, shared about the venue:

Hors d’oeuvres, desserts and adult beverages will be available. Noah Smith and Bella Sonethongkham will provide music.  A short program and silent auction will be a part of the event. Among the items in silent auction will be:

  • A week-long stay in a quaint cottage in historic Punta Gorda, Florida.
  • A sports package that features a VIP tailgate party and two tickets to a Kansas City Chiefs game.
  • A wine tasting for a group of 10.
  • A bottle of Dom Perignon.
  • Waterford crystal champagne flutes, and many other items.

Admissions to the event can be purchased online. Call Barbara Baker Chapin, chair of the coalition, at Transitions of Western Illinois at 217-223-0413, ext. 348, for more information. Tickets are $50 apiece.
