HANNIBAL, Mo. — A Palmyra man was charged Wednesday with receiving stolen property in Marion County.

Charges from the 10th Judicial Circuit Court of Marion County stem from an investigation that began on Sunday, Feb. 2. Officers with the Hannibal Police Department responded to a business in the 2900 block of Palmyra Road for a report of stealing. The victim said their car had been broken into and items were missing.

Officers viewed surveillance video from area locations and identified Jason E. Stamper, 37, as the suspect. On Tuesday, Feb. 4, officers believed Stamper was inside a residence in the 400 block of Smith. They were given consent to search the residence by the homeowner, and Stamper was taken into custody without incident.

Items belonging to the victim were recovered from the home.

Stamper remains in the Marion County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
