Pedestrian injured in Sunday morning traffic accident on Memorial Bridge has died

QUINCY — The pedestrian injured in a traffic accident on the Memorial Bridge Sunday morning has died.

A press release from the Quincy Police Department said Timmy L. Fries, 56, of Wentzville, Mo., died in St. John’s Hospital in Springfield at 3:50 p.m. Monday.

Officers with the Quincy Police Department were dispatched to 201 Maine (Memorial Bridge) at 6:47 a.m. Sunday in reference to an accident with injuries. Officers learned Fries, while walking on the Memorial Bridge, was struck by a vehicle. He was transported to Blessing Hospital after sustaining serious injuries. 

The bridge was briefly limited to one lane of traffic as the investigation continued. The Illinois State Police assisted with this incident.
