QUINCY — Samuel Kenwick, 40, 311 Elm, Quincy, was detained and after an interview he was arrested and lodged for the offense of Aggravated Robbery.  Kenwick will appear in court Wednesday for a bond hearing.  All of the money was later recovered.

PREVIOUS STORY: A person of interest is in custody Tuesday afternoon, less than three hours after Mercantile Bank, 440 Maine, was robbed.

The Quincy Police Department said it received a holdup alarm at 1:17 p.m. from the bank. Shannon Pilkinington, deputy chief of operations at the Quincy Police Department, said the suspect already had fled the bank by the time officers arrived.

The suspect was described as a male wearing a black hat, black Adidas sweatshirt and tan boots. Pilkington said no weapon was displayed during the incident, and the suspect never indicated he had a weapon. He reportedly left the scene heading north on a motorized bicycle.

“What made the bicycle distinctive is that it had very small tires,” Pilkington said.

The person of interest was apprehended on a motorized bicycle at 18th and Broadway. He was brought to the Quincy Police Department around 3:45 p.m.

Pilkington said an investigator remains at the bank this afternoon. Three other investigators are interviewing the person of interest.
