PITTSFIELD, Ill. — David L. Allen, 52, of rural Pittsfield was sentenced on May 27 by Pike County Judge Frank McCartney to five years in the Illinois Department of Corrections on two counts of failure to register as a sex offender.

Two more counts of failing to register as a sex offender were dismissed nolle prosequi — a formal entry of record by the prosecuting attorney who declares he or she is unwilling to prosecute a case.

The case began on Feb. 18 when Chief Deputy Zack Orr conducted a criminal investigation into a violation of the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act.

Subsequent to an investigation, Allen was found to be non-compliant and was arrested on March 17.
