Pittsfield Police Department

PITTSFIELD, Ill. — A student at Pikeland Community School was arrested Thursday for his alleged involvement in the Pittsfield Police Department’s investigation of two separate incidents last week in which threatening writings were found on the bathroom wall at Pikeland Community School.

A press release from the Pittsfield Police Department said officers spent hours on the investigation and developed a person of interest. Officers applied for and received an arrest warrant for the suspect. Pike County State’s Attorney Walker Filbert has charged the juvenile with disorderly conduct.

The Illinois Compiled Statutes say a person commits disorderly conduct when he or she knowingly:

  • Does any act in such unreasonable manner as to alarm or disturb another and to provoke a breach of the peace.
  • Transmits or causes to be transmitted in any manner a threat of destruction of a school building or school property or a threat of violence, death or bodily harm directed against persons at a school, school function or school event, whether or not the school is in session.

Students in grades 6-8 attend Pikeland Community School.

The juvenile suspect was arrested and had a court appearance Thursday morning. The juvenile’s identity will not be released under Illinois Juvenile Law.
