Pleasant Hill woman, 77, found dead in home damaged during Thursday morning fire
PLEASANT HILL, Ill. — A Pleasant Hill woman was found dead in her home which was damaged during an early Thursday morning fire.
The Pike County Sheriff’s Department received a 911 call at 5:49 a.m. Thursday, July 18, about a house fire on 150th Avenue in Pleasant Hill Township. The caller said it appeared the fire had been burning for a while.
Fire departments from Pleasant Hill and Spring Creek were dispatched, along with assistance from the Pittsfield Fire Department.
During firefighting efforts, the body of Sondra Heimer, 77, was discovered at the scene. Her body was transported to Bloomington on Friday, July 19 for an autopsy..
Pike County Sheriff/Coroner David Greenwood is investigating the incident. The Illinois State Fire Marshall’s Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
Assisting at the scene was Pike County EMS.
