QFD responds to Saturday night fire on city’s north side
QUINCY – A home at 2531 Dennis Drive had major fire and smoke damage following a fire that occurred
Saturday night just before 8:30 p.m.
Two residents of the home were displaced and are receiving assistance from the Red Cross.
Three Quincy Fire Department Engine Companies and Incident Command responded to the initial call of
a fire on the porch of the home. While enroute the fire was reported to have spread into the structure. Upon arrival, crews found a large amount of fire coming from the west side of the structure as it had quickly spread to the ceiling area and out the roof.
Company #6 entered and began to fight the fire as Company #4 had laid a supply line from the hydrant at 26th and Spruce. Company #2 and IC arrived shortly after. Company #2 pulled a second line and began to put out flames from the outside. The fire was brought under control and overhaul began. Engine Company #3 was called to the scene to assist with hose and equipment reloading.
There was extensive fire and smoke damage to the entire home and the cause. Investigators were unable to find the cause of the fire and are labeling it as undetermined/non-suspicious.
There were 13 QFD personnel on scene fighting the fire and assistance was provided by QFD Rehab Team, Adams County Ambulance, Quincy Police Department and Ameren.
