QFD responds to trailer fire on city’s north end

QUINCY — The Quincy Fire Department was dispatched to 1521 Park Avenue Thursday morning for a report of a trailer on fire with the occupant outside.

Engine Companies #6, #4, #2 and the Incident Commander responded and upon arrival, the Engine 6 crew reported there was fire and smoke showing coming from the mobile home. They deployed a hose line to the front of the mobile home.

As additional crews arrived on scene, the hose was advanced into the structure and the fire was
extinguished within five minutes. A supply line was laid from the hydrant on the corner of 24th and Locust to Engine 6 and 24th Street was blocked by Quincy Police from Locust to Park
Ave.

Work continued with overhaul and ventilation until the area was clear of any smoke. Fire crews remained on scene until 8:41 a.m.

Cause and Origin Investigators inspected the area and were unable to find the specific cause of the fire. and it is currently being labeled as undetermined. There were no injuries to firefighters and no medical treatment was requested by the occupant, but a pet cat died in the fire.

A total of 13 firefighters responded and they were assisted by the QFD Rehab team, Quincy Police Department, Adams County Ambulance, Ameren Gas and Electric.
