Quincy Chamber, The District and GREDF to move under one roof at 5th and Hampshire
QUINCY — The District, The Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce and The Great River Economic Development Foundation have announced a joint venture to purchase a shared location at 501 Hampshire Street in Quincy.
The three organizations entered into a Purchase Sale Agreement with WGEM-Gray Media and expect to close by the end of this year.
Quincy Area Chamber of Commerce Chair Michelle Miller said, “Uniting under one roof, our organizations will amplify our impact, streamline services, and provide a centralized hub for businesses and community members to access vital resources and support.”
For the past few years, leaders of the three organizations have been meeting on a regular basis to strengthen their partnerships.
“The outcomes from that effort have meant joint training opportunities for members, shared community programs and aligning our services for the betterment of the business community,” Allen Shafer, GREDF Board President said. “With everyone in one location, we will be able to provide a one-stop-shop in the heart of Quincy.”
District Board President Jason Traeder said the move benefits the nonprofit organization, and the more than 300 businesses that call downtown home.
“We are excited to operate independently under the same roof,” Traeder said. “The three organizations already work with each other on several programs. They are all welcoming new businesses when they open, and to be in the same building just makes sense.”
Although the organizations will be housed at the same location, all three will remain independent organizations with separate governing boards. The three organizations will also keep the property on the tax rolls.
