On Sunday, Quincy Police were notified by St. John’s Hospital in Springfield, IL that they were treating a 3 year old child for burns that the child received the previous day at a residence in Quincy. The child had been taken to Blessing Hospital the previous evening and flown to St. John’s Hospital due to the severity of the burns.

Detectives assigned to the case and DCFS investigators met with St. John’s Pediatric ICU staff and investigated the circumstances that led to the child’s injuries.

After reviewing the detectives’ findings and medical records, a warrant was obtained for Raphael A. Wires, 35, 513 Chestnut.

Wires was located outside of his residence on Thursday, arrested and lodged in the Adams County jail in lieu of $1,000,000 bond.
