Quincy man facing battery, firearm and cannabis charges after arrest Wednesday night
QUINCY — A Quincy man was arrested Wednesday on an Adams County warrant for aggravated battery of a pregnant person and domestic battery in is lodged in the Adams County Jail.
Officers with the Quincy Police Department, deputies with the Adams County Sheriff’s Department and members of the West Central Illinois Task Force executed a search warrant in the 3400 block of State at 8:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 14. During the execution of the search warrant, Jeffrey T. Bennett, 46, was arrested.
During the execution of the search warrant, officers found additional illegal items. QPD officers applied for and obtained an additional search warrant for the residence. During a search of the residence, officers discovered a large amount of cannabis, a large amount of U.S. currency, several items of drug paraphernalia and a firearm.
Bennett also was formally charged in Adams County Circuit Court on Thursday with five additional felonies — armed violence, felon in possession of a firearm and manufacturing and possession with intent to deliver cannabis of more than 500 grams but less than 2,000 grams.
Adams County court records show Bennett was found guilty of firearms trafficking in September 2019.
