LEWISTOWN, Mo. — A traffic stop near Lewistown led to the arrest of a Quincy, Ill., man on drug charges.

A deputy with the Lewis County Sheriff’s Department conducted a traffic stop on Aug. 10 and noticed the driver, Cameron J. Coulter, 31, of Quincy was sweating and shaking. The deputy asked if anything illegal was in the truck, and Coulter said “meth” was in the car. Coulter was detained, and a search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a substance consistent with methamphetamine, along with drug paraphernalia.

Coulter was placed under arrest and taken to the Lewis County Jail, where he was held on a 24-hour hold. An arrest warrant was sought through Lewis County Prosecuting Attorney Chelsea Fellinger. Judge Corey Moon then issued a warrant, alleging one count of possession of a controlled substance, a Class D felony.

Coulter remains lodged in the Lewis County Jail with no bond allowed.
