Quincy man in serious condition after vehicle strikes him while crossing Broadway between Applebee’s, Taco Bell

QUINCY — A pedestrian struck by a vehicle near Taco Bell, 3828 Broadway, and Applebee’s, 3827 Broadway, was transported to Blessing Hospital by the Adams County Ambulance Service and is in serious condition.  

Employees with the Quincy Police Department, Quincy Fire Department and Adams County Ambulance Service employees were dispatched to an area 200 feet east of 38th and Broadway at 12:27 p.m. on Tuesday in reference to a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian.

Upon arrival, officers found a 43-year-old male pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle.  The pedestrian, who was not identified, was treated by medical personnel and then transported to Blessing Hospital.

Officers conducted an investigation and spoke with witnesses, as well as the driver of the gray 2016 Jeep that struck the pedestrian.  The 2016 Jeep was eastbound on Broadway in the south lane, and the pedestrian was northbound as he crossed Broadway, approximately 200 feet east of 38th Street. The driver of the Jeep was not identified.

A press release from the Quincy Police Department said the pedestrian was not in a crosswalk and did not have the right of way.  No citations have been issued.
